Learning from trauma

We’ve experienced a difficult fortnight as a family – perhaps the most difficult of our lives, however we have renewed hope and optimism 2 weeks on, Adam (my son-in-law) is on the mend. I and we shall be forever grateful for the expertise and care of those who have and are caring for him in and around Enniskillen 👏

So I’m beginning a journey of processing and learning through faith and the support and love of others, how this last fortnight has been experienced and the opportunity this provides for us going forward.

Focusing on my daily 24-7 prayer devotions, today’s Psalm 33, says so much to help me begin to understand and process this recent period of time: verses 18-22

‘For the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. He rescues them from death and keeps them alive in times of famine. We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let you unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone..

And my prayerful response – Lord God, thank you for watching over us that night and during these last two weeks; we relied and always will rely on your unfailing love. Thank you for enabling Hannah, NIAS, the local community responder and the SWAH team to rescue Adam. We put our hope in you, our constant help and protector; always to trust you going forward. Keep surrounding us with your unfailing love we ask. Thank you. Amen
